The Eaton hotel in Kowloon, Hong Kong is a business hotel built in the 1990s. The renovation aims to build communities and stimulate creative cooperation and action. Inspired by the reminiscent Hong Kong style of the 1950s and 1960s, avroko incorporated neon photos, store design and material elements that were popular decades ago into contemporary projects.
The hotel design company extracts elements from the streets around Jotun Road, and spreads metal products, rough terrazzo, neon lighting and colorful and varied ceramic tiles throughout the hotel space. Powder coated red steel details echo local government buildings. The customized lamps are made of low-key materials such as linen and steel, and their details are inspired by the common bamboo scaffolding in the suburbs. The sleek interior at the corner pays homage to the tradition and has a sense of fashion, which makes the hotel present the feeling of facing the future as a whole.
